Hearst Ranch Winery Randolph Red Blend Paso Robles 2014

Winemaker's Notes:

Our 2014 Randolph is a beautiful wine as versatile as any we’ve ever bottled. It possesses traits of a wine blessed with both juicy ripeness and composed balance. Its great versatility makes this wine an easy choice for a weeknight pasta dish or a Saturday evening dinner party. The primary aromas of dried ripe raspberries are laced with secondary notes of winter spice and wet limestone. The wine has a lush weight on the mid palate that carries sweet fruit flavors with hints of lavender. While the rambunctious Tempranillo and Zinfandel portions are occasional blend partners, the outlier Petit Verdot brought this wine back to a serious place by adding depth of flavor and a defined structure.

On the nose there's a hint of earth and light smoke with loads of fresh fruit notes of cherry, strawberry and cranberry with a small earthy whiff of savory and meaty spice. More expressive fruit on the palate, cherry, raspberry and creamy milk chocolate on the mid palate with an herbal almost minty note towards the finish that is glazed with peppery jam and cinnamon spice.
