Food Pairings for Hawkshead Organic Oat Stout
Hawkshead Brewery has been brewing traditional beer styles with a modern twist, in the heart of the English Lake District, since 2002. Having outgrown the original barn just outside the village of Hawkshead, they now have a purpose built brewery beside the River Kent, in Staveley, at the foot of the Kentmere Valley. Visitors can watch the brewery at work from The Beer Hall, which looks down into the Brew House, while sampling their beers. The Beer Hall is a showcase for real ale. It is brewery tap, beer shop, visitors’ centre and function room. It has a Cask Marque award for serving “the perfect pint” and is in The Good Beer Guide. Hawkshead Brewery is an active member of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and is proud to be a small part of the modern revolution in the British brewing industry, the aim of which is the permanent revival of the British national drink - beer. The Stout presents a rich mocha flavour, with deep chocolate and ruby red tones. Dry, with hints of biscuit and gentle woody tones. A clean balanced mix of malt with subtle yet persuasive hops. Delicate, yet with presence. Long and subtle, lingering flavours of roasting malt, with a softening edge of gentle hopping. A new vintage stout, traditional with real stout character which is bottle conditioned.
