Hawkshead Brodie's Prime NV

Winemaker's Notes:

Hawkshead Brewery has been brewing traditional beer styles with a modern twist, in the heart of the English Lake District, since 2002. Having outgrown the original barn just outside the village of Hawkshead, they now have a purpose built brewery beside the River Kent, in Staveley, at the foot of the Kentmere Valley. Visitors can watch the brewery at work from The Beer Hall, which looks down into the Brew House, while sampling their beers. The Beer Hall is a showcase for real ale. It is brewery tap, beer shop, visitors’ centre and function room. It has a Cask Marque award for serving “the perfect pint” and is in The Good Beer Guide. Hawkshead Brewery is an active member of the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) and is proud to be a small part of the modern revolution in the British brewing industry, the aim of which is the permanent revival of the British national drink - beer. The Brodie's Prime is a well-hopped dark premium beer, with an unusual medley of flavours. It is rich and well rounded though, not as strong as it tastes. Brodies Prime has a roasted edge, like a stout, but with contrasting spiciness and surprisingly pronounced fruit flavours from a mixture of English & American hops.

New Zealand is a land of hidden secrets. From North to South there is an ever changing vista of lush pastures covering hills and plains, ancient forests, sweeping beaches, soaring mountains, rolling tussocklands, swift flowing rivers, and beautiful lakes. Each bend of the road takes the traveller to new and different scenic beauty to take your breath away. That's what makes our beautiful country so special – there's more variety in these islands than in a continent. There is unparalleled quality in what we produce too, especially our internationally acclaimed wines. One of New Zealand's spectacular wine regions is hidden along the banks of the swift flowing Kawerau River in Central Otago. It is Gibbston, 'Valley of Vines.' The arid farmland along the highway as it winds through the gorge from Cromwell to Queenstown was once home to merino sheep and long ago gold miners. It is now a thriving community of vineyards and wineries dedicated to growing the quality grapes that make some of New Zealand's finest Pinot Noir. Read less
