Haut Batailley 2003

Winemaker's Notes:

Deriving its name from a battle fought here between the British and French sixcenturies ago, this popular wine has not disappointed its legion of fans in2003. The wonderfully ripe Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) is softened by 28% Merlotand 2% Petit Verdot. A rich, fruity nose is followed by a palate withBatailley's characteristic weight and reassuringly dense, textured red andblack fruit, creamy oak and a very long finish. Excellent value, as always.

Quite rich on the palate with aromas of black, dark berried fruit and licorice. Even more structure than in the recent vintages. Tannins are firm and could certainly withstand years of cellaring.
