Hauner Salina Rosso 2008
The color is of ruby red with notes of violet. Good consistent firmness on the palate showing off the fine structure of this wine. Generous and distinct fruit fragrance of blackberries with light accents of vanilla and licorice, subtle hints of charred oak and carob. Dry to the taste, well balanced with presence of tannins, intense and lingering, leaving a smooth softness in the mouth. Food Pairing: A fine choice for rich, well-seasoned and tasty foods, meat dishes with gravy, aged cheeses and first courses sauces.

The wines from the Hauner estate, on the Lipari Islands, always express the terroir of their volcanic soils. This blend of Nerello Mascalese and Nero d'Avola is dark, mineraled, and very much like an earthy but fruit-driven Dolcetto. It's great with grilled meats.
