This astounding wine opens with a lively array of aromatics. Spicy tones join a complex mix of cherry and bright fruits, intermingling with percussive plum and sage, giving breadth and depth and height to this opulent nose. The palate is pleasantly acidic with sage-driven cherry and bright fruits presenting counterpointed fugues and filling in the strong tannic structure. Good balance and rich concentrations continue throughout many changes. Goes well with brie, gouda and cheddar cheeses, salmon, lamb, pork, turkey, sweet potatoes, chocolate, nuts and all red and dark fruits. Acidity sustains the ongoing evolution of the wine and leads to a warm silky mouthfeel and salivating tongue. Vibrant, complex, long finish with juicy flavors dripping off the sides of the tongue. Wine Fire group tasting 07/04/2010.
Second tasting 07/24/2010. The second tasting of this wine showed off even more of its extraordinary richness and balance. Wine Fire reviewers gave it a unanimous first place in a summer Pinot finals, pitting winners of a series of previous competitions for this varietal. The nose greets with a lovely cherry and floral bouquet, with notes of plum and dark fruit weaving a sexy and seductive array of pleasing aromas. On the palate, a gentle acidity and well-balanced fruit medley provide a broad array of changing tastes. Over three hours, each sip surprises with a new variation on the themes of cherry, plum, floral, and spice (especially sage and clove). A silky mouthfeel surrounds a voluptuous and complex array of tastes leading to a truly satisfying finish.

"Vivid red. Heady aromas of red berry preserves, Asian spices and anise, with a strong floral overtone. Lively strawberry, raspberry and herb flavors stain the palate, with bitter cherry skin and mineral notes adding cut. Leaves smoky mineral and floral qualities behind on the strikingly long, sappy finish, which also features an exotic note of blood orange. Lots going here already."Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar
