When Lyndsey and Michael Harrison purchased a stunning piece of property overlooking Lake Henessey in 1988, they had no idea they would soon be creative producers of 2,000 cases of elite Napa Valley Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. Oh, and olive oil. But that came later. The Harrison's 18 acres of rugged hillside terrain were planted a youthful 24 years ago. Remember your 24th year? The optimism, the zest, the exuberance, the freshness of a world laid out before you... All are qualities embodied in the Chardonnay and Cabernet brought to life by winemaker Lyndsey Harrison. Each new release continues to be heralded by the most respected reviewers in the industry. Yet even such technical treatises can't help but praise the spirit and vigor of these inspired wines. "...made in a full-throttle, almost French style...this large scale Chardonnay is bursting with flavor and personality." -Robert M. Parker Jr. of the Wine Advocate. And from the Connoisseur's Guide: "Despite it's youthful toughness (think Street Car Named Desire), this immediately attractive bottling is filled with deep and lively fruit." As the family-run business grew, a second dream evolved. With the help of Lyndsey and Michael's daughter, Jill, her husband Chris and a 100-year-old stone crusher imported from Tuscany, olive oil to rival the best of the European oils went into production. Regional olives were ground by a 3-ton, granite crushing wheel in the age of the old Tuscan method. The advantage to this authentic Italian process is a more gentle treatment of the olives than is afforded by the commonly used modern hydraulic press. Exquisite sweetness and remarkably intense flavor are the distinguishing features of the resulting oil. True, Harrison Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Olio d'Oro are hard to find but each bottle is an extraordinary treat. The Harrison family invites you to visit their ranch - after all, it may be the only place where you can acquire these treasures!
