($60) Bright medium ruby. Cassis, violet and black licorice aromas. Primary, highly concentrated but hard-edged flavors of black fruits and violet. Penetrating acidity gives the wine an ungiving quality and dries its finish. Youthfully aggressive today, but finishes with good length and fairly ripe tannins. Perhaps this is in an awkward stage. Reportedly made from a crop level of just 1.3 tons of fruit per acre. (The Grateful Palate, Oxnard CA)

This limited production of premium Shiraz was made from grapes grown on our Hare's Chase Vineyard in the Barossa Valley. Basket pressing, followed by barrel fermentation and maturation in American oak for 16 months has provided ripe, fleshy, concentrated wines typical of the region. To retain the individual characters of the vineyard and the fruit neither wine has not been filtered or fined.
