Hardys Port Blend Whiskers Blake Classic Tawny NV
Rich tawny color with olive hues. The nose is reminiscent of chocolate with coffee overtones. The palate is smooth and mellow with good length and a dry finish. Classic rancio characters are also evident in this flavorsome wine.

Whiskers Blake Port was especially selected from premium aged tawny ports. I am a big fan of Tawny Port, but I think this is the first Australian Tawny that I have tried. It is quite different from a Port with more body as well as vanilla, smoke and caramel flavors... it is also more obviously sweet. However, for the price (I paid around $15), this is a great bargain.
buttery scent, sweet/toasty butterscotch flavor, mild - not too thick
Whiskers Blake is a powerful tawny with good complexity and great tawny color. Beautiful nutty nose with orange peel and caramel. However it has a syrupy character that I don't like. Compared with Morris Black label, this wine pales. My rating 86.
WONDERFUL foreign port, with the strong fragrance of raisins and nuts, though not overpowering. The price is right for entertaining a crowd. My personal favorite port, when it stays in stock long enough for me to make it to the shop.

Wine Spectator ReviewRated 94Succulent and smooth, this tremendously complex tawny is layered with caramel, walnut, coffee, almond and orange peel flavors, long, elegant and spicy in the mouth. All this and wow, what a price this wine could double as a Best Buy.
The Man: Whiskers Blake was a roguish little bloke who worked in Hardys Tintara vineyard around the turn of the century. His job was scaring birds from the grapes with an old 8 gauge shotgun. He also took it upon himself to regularly test the products. Rich tawny colour with olive hues. The nose is reminiscent of chocolate with coffee overtones. The palate is smooth and mellow with good length and a dry finish. Classic rancio characters are also evident in this flavoursome wine.
