Deep garnet color. Viscous grip on the glass. The nose has blackberries, currant, dark cherry pie and boysenberry. The mouthfeel belies the fact that this is a $23 Cab. There is real structure and allure not normally found at this price point. Sweet tannins and a quiet but ever present acid level carries this forward. The finish seems a bit clipped. This reminds me of Ed Sbragias offerings of late save for the Beringer Reserve. There are some grape pips floating about? Strange, but the only destraction I can find. Could us a year in the bottle but drinks quite nicely now. Great NAPA QPR alert!

Napa Valley Cabernets can and usually do command steep prices. If you want to experience all the lush richness of Napa without a price tag of $50-$75 a bottle, then try this terrific bottling. Hardin is sourced from a cult Napa producer and was aged in 75% new French barrels. It is a super value at $30! The aroma is immediately inviting, warm and rich, offering very ripe red fruit and smoky oak, and the taste is full, enveloping and fat, finishing with 'sweet' ripe fruit accented with coffee and toasty oak.

A Cult Cabernet for $30/bottle?! Well, wait until you taste the Hardin and see if you don't agree that the bouquet, flavor and texture of the wine do not suggest something much more expensive. Made from a blend of low yield Cabernet fruit from the famous ToKalon vineyard and Dr. Crane's vineyard, the wine is aged for 18 months in expensive oak. This is full-throttle Napa Cabernet with gobs of rich, dense, sexy fruit and a bold, expressive palate. Make no mistake - this is not going to remain a $30 Cabernet for very long.
