Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon 2016

External Review by Wine Gems @ Perriello's:

Napa Valley, CaliforniaHardin Cabernet Sauvignon is a beautiful expression of Napa Valley at a very affordable price. The first vintage of Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon (2003) was discovered by one of our favorite suppliers, Doug Polaner, on a trip to California, sourced from one of Napa Valley's long time "cult" producers. Doug found himself in Napa at the right time and was able to taste and buy a small lot of this top, top quality wine. Following the blow-out success of the first effort, Doug has continued to put together a stellar follow-up throughout the years. Only 1787 cases were produced. Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon is a combination of top Valley floor and hillside sites. It's a blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in French oak (20% new) for about 22 months. Hardin is a classic Napa Cabernet that reflects the quality of the 2016 vintage with deep, rich flavors and volume. Lots of dusty cassis, stone fruit and a sage/herb spice with beautiful layers and an underlying lift of freshness that carries the finish. The wine has a great texture with sturdy, but soft, tannins. This "crazy value" Napa Cab was sourced from a couple of top "Cult" wineries in the Valley (SHHH...their wines sell for between $75-150/bot!). Deep, rich and plush with classic Napa Cab fruit, it drinks like a wine costing 2-3 times as much! Enjoy Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon with filet mignon, rack of lamb, steak, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.

Vintage: 2013 11/28/2016

The first vintage of Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon (2003) was discovered by one of our favorite suppliers, Doug Polaner, on a trip to California, sourced from one of Napa Valley's long time "cult" producers. Doug found himself in Napa at the right time and was able to taste and buy a small lot of this top, top quality wine. Following the blow-out success of the first effort, Doug has continued to put together a stellar follow-up throughout the years. The 2013 is Hardin's eighth vintage and one of outstanding quality. The 2013 vintage in Napa Valley will long be considered as one of the great vintages for Cabernet based wines! If you had to describe 2013 in a few words, it would be a vintage that had a lot of everything - fruit, structure, depth, concentration and acidity. Wines that are compelling young, but are supported by ample tannins and structure to allow them to age gracefully. The 2013 Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon is a combination of top Valley floor and hillside sites. It's a blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot aged in French oak (1/3 New) for about 14 months, a wine that displays the outright richness and power of the vintage. Deep, intense, plum, dark cherry and spice are prevalent right away on the nose and palate, but the signature of the vintage is then on full display with minerality, balancing structure and a vibrant, fresh core that lifts the fruit and carries the wine. This is a classic Napa Cab that will drink well for many years. Enjoy Hardin Cabernet Sauvignon with filet mignon, rack of lamb, steak, grilled vegetables and aged cheeses.
