What to Expect

Zinfandel is considered America's own great indigenous grape, even though its origins lie on the Adriatic coast. Planted throughout California and the Pacific Northwest, Zinfandel is at its best in warm regions with cooler temperatures during harvest. The wines can range from off-dry Rosés, White Zinfandels, and light bistro styled wines, to big, rich powerful wines - even luscious wines for dessert bottling. The flavors range from plummy to raspberry, although deep blackberry fruit and brambly spice tones are most common.

Surprisingly fresh and fruity after all these years. This wine has always been a bit lighter in color, flavor and body than most CA zins in this price range that have can have absurd levels of alcohol. However, the attractive red berry and floral notes backed up by some pepper and spice made this a great fit with pasta and meat sauce.

Not so good on the 2nd day - despite the use of a vacuvin.

This is an excellent zinfandel, goes well with roasted meats. Full bodied and jammy.

This wine is very rich and jammy with notes of blackberrys, even chocolate. I recommend serving with food for best enjoyment, especially a nice roast or steak.
