Hall Merlot Napa Valley 2006

External Review:

Rating: 90/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the November 2010 issue. When so many Merlots are trying to be knockoffs of Cabernet Sauvignon, this juicy, red-cherry scented bottling that smells and tastes of its variety is a delight to behold. It is supple in texture and smooth, fruity and rich across the palate in a style that has plenty of direct, easy-drinking charm to its credit, and its depth will make it a useful mate to dishes like pan-grilled filet mignon and brined, slow-cooked pork chops.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Further bottle aging can improve this wine.

Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.
