Dark purple in the glass. Nose of dark berries, cocoa, and loam. Berry, oak, and leather initially on the palate, overwhlemed by astringency. Decanted for one hour, more cocoa and tobacco comes through but still tannic. Really smooths out on the second day, but still a little unbalanced toward the tannins. Will probably lay the next bottle down for at least a year, but the second night's drinking reveals potential in this one a few years (or more) down the road.

The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (primarily estate fruit) reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as sweet, tarry, black currant, and chocolate notes with hints of wood smoke and spice box. Deep, layered, and impressive, it is undeniably the finest wine ... Robert Parker's Wine Advocate. A Cabernet Sauvignon wine from California in USA. 2005 Kathryn Hall Cabernet Sauvignon 750ml

Winemaker's Notes:

Kathryn Hall, our signature Cabernet Sauvignon, showcases the choicest fruit from our finest estate vineyard blocks and extraordinary mountain fruit from our select vineyard partners. Through a mélange of varietals and terroir this wine has transcended into a symphonic Bordeaux cuvee.

Tasting Notes:

A titillating bouquet of briar fruit, toasty oak, and baking spice lure you to a palate of dense, powerful fruit and massive structure. The wine is distinctly smooth. Fine-grained tannins crescendo through the mid-palate and settle nicely into a long, memorable finish of berry pie flavors and a voluptuous, coating mouthfeel. Approachable in its youth, this wine will continue to evolve with 10-15 years of cellaring.
