Wine Tasting NotesThe Kathryn Hall displays an array of complex aromas of fruit, oak and terroir. Initially, the wine displays sweet fruit aromas of cassis, plum, and blackberry. However, as the aromas linger, one can discover subtle notes of nutmeg, vanilla, toasted pecans and chocolate express themselves beautifully. The flavors are full-bodied and lush, with the round, rich tannin structure that reflects its mountain-grown origins. This wine is drinking beautifully right now, but for those who prefer to defer their gratification, this wine will continue to evolve in complexity and character over the next 3-10 years.
Wine Advocate Review Rated 92 The 2005 Cabernet Sauvignon (primarily estate fruit) reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as sweet, tarry, black currant, and chocolate notes with hints of wood smoke and spice box. Deep, layered, and impressive, it is undeniably the finest wine made by this winery, which heretofore was a notorious under-achiever. It should drink beautifully for 15 or more years. Wine Enthusiast Review Rated 92 Firmly tannic and dry, this Cabernet, which was blended with a little Merlot, Malbec and Petit Verdot, is one for the cellar. The tannins are tough and astringent, but when they melt away over the next decade or so, they'll leave behind sweet currants, cedar and violets. Wine Tasting Notes titillating bouquet of briar fruit, toasty oak, and baking spice lure you to a palate of dense, powerful fruit and massive structure. The wine is distinctly smooth. Fine grained tannins crescendo through the mid-palate and settle nicely into a long, memorable nish of berry pie avors and a voluptuous, coating mouthfeel. Approachable in its youth, this wine will continue to evolve with 10 - 15 years of cellaring. 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Merlot 5% Malbec 1% Petit Verdot.
