Nice dark purple color. Aromas range from resiny, to pruny, to something like anise. Very pleasing initial palate. There is some fruit here--blackberry as much as anything--but it doesn't take over. Some dusty earthiness. Nice acid tartness. Firm supporting tannin. US$19.99 at Costco last summer.

A harmonius blending of grenache and syrah from the Rhone. I got it for about $14 at my local liquor store and went back for a third and fourth and fifth bottle. It's a great everyday drinking bottle filled with ripe fruits and just a bit of the peppery character grenache adds. Very nice bottle at a modest price.

Vintage rating : 93E Predicted year : 2013+ (Should reach maximum ageing potential at around 2013, but will keep great for another 10 plus years). RP - 91pts. Upon tasting, I was surprised to see that it was of an intense ruby colour and still quite dark considering the almost 10 years in the bottle. This hints that it could be further aged for a while without loosing it's flavour such as; on the nose, it still had very ripe red fruits - strawberry and cherry, in the mouth the tannins still offer a great kick with spices and black pepper. Again in the mouth, the ripe red fruits reveal to be more akin to plums. The balance is quite superb with acidity that rounds things off with the spices and tannins.

Delicious fruity tannic rhone wine. Hint of cats pee on the nose to let you know whose terroir it belongs to, but otherwise leans new world. $13 89 points WKH

Dinastia Vivanco Reserva Tinto 2004: Ein klares und tiefes Rot, welches an saftige Schwarzkirschen erinnert, erfüllt das Glas mit Farbe. Das komplexe Bukett lässt den Duft von eingekochten Früchten, mineralischen Noten, Vanille von neuer Eiche und dezenten würzigen Nuancen miteinander verschmelzen. Die eleganten Tannine sind perfekt eingebunden. Insgesamt präsentiert dieser körperreiche Rotwein eine gute Säurestruktur und balsamische Noten. Dark cherry red colour with touches of brick red reminding us of its time spent ageing in barrel. Aromas of mature black and red fruit, as well as sweet creamy, balsamic and toffee notes. Good balance between the ageing nuances lent by extended maturation, and the ubiquitous fruit aromas. Good intensity and balance, soft, round tannins, and a long finish with hints of toast and liquorice.

<p>Made from 65% Tempranillo, 25% Grenache, and 10% Mazuelo and Graciano, this dry Spanish is aged 3 years in barrels before being bottled.</p>

Dietary Information: Organic

Notes: This wine was then aged in 50% new oak barrels, and 50% second use barrels, for a period of 24 months, and then a further 4 months in larger oak vats to improve the homogenisation and integration of the ageing flavours. After this period of oak maturation, the wine spent a further 24 months completing its ageing in bottle before release.
