Hacienda del Plata:
Amongst the mountain countryside in the 18th century, Hacienda del Plata was born. Throughout the generations the Gonzales-Pinto family embodied the secrets of their environment; the silence of the mountains, and the tranquil and quiet character of the ranchers. The irresistible mysticism of the Andes captured in their wines.

I really liked this wine. Not fruity. Very earthy with a lot of pepper, but not too heavy. I like the slightly higher alcohol as well.

Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza, ArgentinaHacienda del Plata Syrah Arriero Reserve is another great red wine discovery from Argentina. Hacienda del Plata is the story of an Andean ranch born in the 18th century on the north bank of the Mendoza River and the history of the Gonzalez-Pinto family still making wines in balance with the environment of this special place in Mendoza. We find this a true red wine gem! This 100% Syrah is organically grown from 12-year-old vines at 2034 ft above sea level on the estate's San Juan vineyard; only 250 cases produced. Hacienda del Plata Syrah Arriero Reserve is a deep ruby-purple in color. The nose is vibrant with berries, violets, earth, pepper and spices. The palate is juicy and rich, showing ripe varietal blackberries, black currants, spice and cedary oak. It has excellent structure and good concentration with smooth tannins. Aged 80% for 12 months in French and American oak barrels and for another 9-12 months in bottle, the wine has a silky structure with a long, rich finish.Enjoy Hacienda del Plata Syrah Arriero Reserve over the next 8-10 years with grilled lamb chops, steak, roast beef, beef empanadas and sharp cheeses.
