As I noted in Issue 3, Jean-Marc Roulot reported that he was extremely pleased with the quality of his '99s, declaring that he much prefers their elegance and raciness to his denser but heavier 98s. He also prefers them to his 2000s but by the barest of margins. Effective yields were much lower in 2000 because just before the harvest there was a major storm, which included some hail and this reduced yields, either through outright damage from the hail or through the subsequent triage process in picking out rot tinged grapes. Roulot wasn't sure when he would bottle the 2000s though in November read more...

As the best examples of Perrières always do, this just oozes class, minerality, sophistication and refinement. Powerful and explosive aromas burst from the glass yet there is nothing heavy or forced and the flavors display awesome intensity as this just etches itself into the palate and stains it as well. The length was so good that I could taste this the next morning and the complexity is literally stunning. Another genuinely great, incredibly pure Roulot Perrières.
