What to Expect

Few white wines have achieved the fame that Riesling has in Germany. Its ability to produce a wide range of styles, from bone dry to lusciously sweet, in an even wider range of climates has made it the grape of Germany. Riesling in Germany can range from the steely, piercing wines of the Saar to the round, opulent peachy wines one typically finds in the Nahe and the Pfaltz. Every region is capable of producing both dry and sweet versions though there is a movement towards drier wines that has taken hold throughout many regions.

Editorial Reviews

A spectacular just maturing nose of deisel fuel, green onion tops, and slate but the palate remains wonderfully fresh with a prettty sweet character balanced by cutting acidity. The fruit is a bit apricotty but with the zesty, limy freshness of acidity. Wonderful and still youthful. 92pts

Developed nose with a medium intensity of pear fruit, meadow flowers, ripe peach, honey, minerality, botrytis and hints of smoke. Medium sweet on the palate, high acidity, low alcohol and light body. Medium intensity of toffee, strawberry, rhubarb, hints of fennel and wet stone. Medium(+) length.

A fine Spätlese in its traditional sense, meaning it's not a lush wine of downgraded Auslese level but shows lots of ripe fruit and at the same time has a radiant acidity level that made me beg for more. Enough acidity to keep it alive for a few more years probably. Its complexity on the read more...

Interesting aroma, full of herbs and pine. Once you taste it though, it was sweet on the palate, rich, good acidity, refreshing. Very different from what the smell delivered. It was very intriguing.

Nectarine, sour apple and blue cheese on the nose. Surprisingly full bodied with granny smith apple, lemon rind and grapefruit. Refreshing and long. Gorgeous.

Gunflint and smoke on the nose. Graphite flavors with a bit of residual sugar, lots of citrus fruit. A very interesting wine -- love it.

A striking nose of linoleum and spring onions. However, in the mouth the wine still has a lot of fruit. It's full of searing acidity and is very rich and viscous. Really unique, well aged and very nice.
