User Reviews for Gundlach Bundschu Cabernet Sauvignon Sonoma Valley
Add your reviewTo me GunBun is about cabernet and this is definitely classic Sonoma Cabernet. It is more herbaceous than ripe fruit. Nose has some some spice (cassis) with leather and dark fruit. Good fruit flavors with spice and silky tannins and great balance.
Just opened a bottle on a casual note as it was a wedding gift. I honestly had no prior knowledge of this wine, but soon realized once the aromas hit my nose that I may have wanted to save this wine for a special occassion. Quickly, my husband told me to "enjoy" because every day is a special occassion. Absolutely fabulous!!! Deep purple, berry, rich, flavorful, smooth, just perfect.

Tasting Notes - Dark purple color, aromas of violet, anise and lifted red and black currant. The lush, smooth entry leads to dark berry, cassis, shaved chocolate and espresso bean flavors. Big, smooth tannins give weight and roundness to the mouthfeel. The long finish is smooth with balancing notes of red fruit. Delicious upon release; optimal cellaring time four to 15 years from vintage.
