Gunderloch Riesling Spätlese Nackenheim Rothenberg 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

"This juicy white is filled with concentrated flavors of peach cobbler, apple tart and lemon, backed up by refreshing acidity. Features interesting notes of candied basil and honey cream on the finish, with hints of white pepper...93" WS 3/12 "Honeysuckle and orange blossom as well as fresh citrus and smoky crushed stone alluringly scent the Gunderloch 2010 Nackenheimer Rothenberg Riesling Spatlese, which comes to the palate light yet luscious, projecting an orange and lemon sorbet-like impression. Suggestions of Persian melon enhance the sense of abundantly juicy ripeness and a delectably dynamic finishing interplay of fruit and mineral introduces a saliva-inducing, savory salinity that just won’t quit. Here is a terrific example of vintage-typical high acid and extract harnessed in the service of elegance and refreshment...93" WA 12/11 "Candied peach, herbal spices and persimmon on the nose. The rich apricot fruit shows a lush palate feel yet remains taut owing to its crisp texture. Boasts nice weight and good depth but is quite closed today...90" IWC 01/12

Gunderloch:
Our great - great grandfather, Carl Gunderloch, a banker from Mainz, founded the Gunderloch estate in 1890. He bought excellent grand cru vineyard sites, NACKENHEIM ROTHENBERG, and became one of the pioneers of quality wine making on the Rhine River. Agnes and Fritz Hasselbach have been managing the 30 acres of vineyards in Nackenheim and Nierstein since 1979 and are the fifth generation owners.

A fresh and aromatic offering redolent of lychee and rose petals.

Ripe peach, passion fruit and lemon drop on the nose. Rich, juicy papaya fruit is clean and refreshing. In spite of its residual sugar, this spatlese remains bright and lively on the spicy finish. -Joel Payne Stephen Tanzer's IWC. An intense spätlese, exhibiting a piercing smoke and herb scent backed by apricot and pineapple flavors. Rich yet elegant, with well-integrated acidity and a mouth-watering finish. Drink now through 2018. 400 cases imported. -BS Wine Spectator. A Riesling wine from Rheinhessen in Germany. 2005 Gunderloch Riesling Spatlese Nackenheimer Rothenberg 750ml

Opulent and concentrated, exhibiting mango, passion fruit and stone aromas and flavors that melt into the fleshy frame. Therersquo;s enough acidity to match its richness and keep it focused on the long finish. Drink now through 2020.

Massively expressive, both aromatically and on the palate, the 2003 Riesling Spauml;tlese Nackenheimer Rothenberg is an outstanding medium-bodied effort. Its creamy flint, mineral, and spice scents lead to a broad personality that is awash in ripe fruits. Poached pears, spices, red currants, and cassis make up its complex, generous character. Drink this beauty over the next 12ndash;13 years.
