Gunderloch Riesling Rheinheben Kabinett Jean-Baptiste 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Wine Spectator: Well-defined apple tart flavors dominate this broad Riesling. Blood orange and cream notes linger on the finish. Drink now. (2011) Rudi Wiest Selections: The wine offers a wonderful nose of grapefruit and lemonade; it is so fresh and bright. On the palate the wine has excellent weight and texture for a Kabinett, but still allows the rich clay and fine slate mineral details to show through. A lovely bottle of Kabinett, and we feel it could be the best 'Jean Baptiste' Gunderloch's made to date.

Gunderloch:
Our great - great grandfather, Carl Gunderloch, a banker from Mainz, founded the Gunderloch estate in 1890. He bought excellent grand cru vineyard sites, NACKENHEIM ROTHENBERG, and became one of the pioneers of quality wine making on the Rhine River. Agnes and Fritz Hasselbach have been managing the 30 acres of vineyards in Nackenheim and Nierstein since 1979 and are the fifth generation owners.
