Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.

Spicy and perfumed nose filled with rich berry fruit. Also, aromas of wet stone and turned soil. Spicy berry. Has meaty richness, blueberries, black raspberries, crushed rock and flowers. Opulent and dense with an oily texture. Rich in concentrated fruit. Powerful and dense but has finesse. Pepper, charcoal and herb notes as well. Best with food. 91 pts. 11/3/12

This is entirely savory, all toasted almond, mineral and salt, an austere Crozes that stands out for its steadfast flavor and firmness. Decant it for veal stew with mushrooms.

The exceptional 2009 Crozes-Hermitage is one of the top wines of the vintage. A complex bouquet of black olives, licorice, ground beef, spring flowers and red and black currants soars from the glass of this 100% Syrah that is aged in 3-year-old barrels as well as larger foudres. With remarkable density, this evolved, approachable, delicious, full-bodied Crozes should drink well for a decade.

Deep ruby. Ripe, deeply smoky aromas of black and blue fruits and candied flowers. Dense, ripe and appealingly sweet in the mouth, but sappy blackberry and violet pastille flavors that show impressive energy. Finishes on a peppery note, with excellent clarity and suave, harmonious tannins.

A dark, roasted style, with tasty fig, currant paste and espresso flavors backed by a note of melted licorice on the finish. Shows a nicely gutsy edge too. Drink now.
