Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

This is a plump, soft, inviting wine. It opens with a bit of gently toasted oatmeal and citrus, then expands on the palate to reveal smoke and lemon custard flavors. Consume this over the next couple of years for its luscious forwardness, or cellar it, as it should be fine in 2010 or so.

(potentially Guigalrsquo;s first domain bottling of Hermitage, although the decision has not yet been made to bottle this on its own; from vines in Bessard, Greffieux, Murets and lrsquo;Hermite) Saturated deep ruby. Superripe aromas of black fruits and gunflint; essence of Hermitage. Dense, sweet and superconcentrated, with utterly primary black fruit flavors. Finishes with great tannic grip and sappy length.

Good ruby-red. Hugely ripe nose combines roasted currant, cherry, licorice, gunflint, pepper and roasted herbs. At once fat and stony, with chewy, tactile flavors of cherry, leather and earth. Most impressive today on the explosive, palate-staining back end. This classic young Hermitage really calls for a decade of cellaring.

Winemaker's Notes:

Fine, deep, dark-red color. Spicy aromas, with small soft fruit. Round tannins, complexity and power. A rich, full-bodied, smooth wine, with touches of ripe plums, stone fruit and soft fruit. A rich, yet not heady wine.
