What to Expect

Grenache is the main grape in many Rhone blends and most Cotes du Rhone and Chateaunuef-du-pape. It's a grape that yields soft, lightly colored yet full wines endowed with deep notes of strawberry and raspberry. While not prone to producing particularly rich or complex wines in France, Grenache is one of the world's most widely-planted grapes, producing unique expression where ever it is planted. It is particularly common in Spain as Garnacha, and Sardinia, as Canonnau,

What a delicious value! A blend of 50% Grenache, 25% Mourvedre, and 25% Syrah from 35 year old vines, aged for a year in oak casks. A deep purple color in the glass, with warm berry, plum and spice aromas. Full-bodied and elegant, with mellow tannins, warmth and aromatic intensity. You can age this wine successfully for up to 8 years. Delicoius with meat, game, spicy salami, and mature cheeses.

Again, excellence in winemaking has produced this tasty Côtes du Rhône. The négociant firm of Guigal makes some of the finest wines of the Rhône valley.

While there's nothing wrong with it, its just a plain insipid white. Some acidity and crispness on the attack, barely any fruits and a warm, if short, finish. Functional only.
