Guerila Vipava Valley Cuba 2007

Member Review by BPetric:

Intense pomegranate-red with a shade of ruby. Typical varietal characteristics. The nose and palate expressions of blackberry, cacao, roasted coffee. Full-bodied wine with a long aftertaste and right freshness.

GUERILA is a boutique wine cellar owned by the family Petrič from Planina pri Ajdovščini, which produces around 30.000 bottles per year. The vineyards spread out on beautiful sunny positions on 350 m a.s.l., where the quality is determined by flysch grounding and by the intertwining of the Mediterranean and the Alpine climate. When choosing the wine sorts the local autochthon sorts are preferred, such as zelen and pinela, but also other sorts are found: rebula, merlot, malvazija, cabernet sauvignon... The Guerila wines are of a top quality. This quality enables caring work in vineyards, a low crop load of grapevines and the rich knowledge of the oenologist Uroš Bolčina, who gained his experience in the most important wine countries in the whole world. Wine is food and earth is mother. We should respect the earth and keep it healthy that is why the Guerila wines are grown according to ecological standards (in the procedure of the acquiring of the certificate about the ecological processing). The story about Guerila started on the Youth Day 2006, because modern trends of wine with the expressed freshness and rich fruit flavours are presented. The boldness and the provocation of youth are also expressed by a fashion design with the purpose to recognise a trade mark. The Guerila wines are also full and rich with the extracts, which enables them a longer lifetime, and sorts (Roma, Cuba, Riserva) ripen also in wooden barrique barrels. The Guerila wines are in pace with time, the way of life and the modern culinary and fulfil high demands of consumers. This is confirmed by several acknowledgments and medals from Slovenia, and especially from abroad. Read less
