Guenoc Petite Syrah 2005
Second night tasting- Plums and dark cherry, anise, vanilla, toast, and mild to medium tannins (tannins much stronger the first night) in a slightly peppery wine. Rather one dimensional with a short finish.
Started out ok, but drops off at the end. After a few glasses, I got very tired of the taste. Some good flavors in there, but I didn't feel it held up well enough.
An uncomplicated but delicious mouth filling wine for pot roast or summer barbecue. Linda loves it. Good price
Raspberry, blackberry, dried fruit and leather on the nose; more berries on the palate. Medium to full body.
A group of friends and I recently enjoyed a couple of bottles of the Guenoc Petite Sirah with Indian food. Before the food was served, I found the taste to be very pleasant, but really nothing more. Once I started eating however (Rogan Josh - lamb in a moderately spicy tomato based sauce), the wine completely came alive. It was a great match for the food and the quality was a nice surprise for the price.

Wine Tasting NotesWith aromas of blueberries, black pepper and spice, the Petite Sirah has lush flavors of raspberries and cocoa and perhaps a little cedar. The rich and chewy flavors in the middle lead to a long, soft finish.
