There is not much in the nose, but not unpleasant. The first thing that hits me is a light acidity. There is very little fruit in the taste, the tannins are nicely balanced with a bit of pepper in the short finish. It's light enough to drink on it's own or with a meal that is not too spicy to overpower the wine.

Second night tasting- Plums and dark cherry, anise, vanilla, toast, and mild to medium tannins (tannins much stronger the first night) in a slightly peppery wine. Rather one dimensional with a short finish.
Started out ok, but drops off at the end. After a few glasses, I got very tired of the taste. Some good flavors in there, but I didn't feel it held up well enough.

The 2011 California Petite Sirah jumps out of the glass with aromas of blueberry, blackberry and red cherry. In the mouth, the wine is bright and fruity, with a touch of earthiness and oak revealing a long smooth finish. Pair this wine with burgers , barbeque and meaty tomato sauce-based pasta dishes. - Winery
Guenoc Lake County Petite Sirah has intense aromas of red raspberry, licorice and baked blueberries. The wine has a medium body with melt in your mouth tannins and layers of spicy complexity. A refreshing acidity on the palate contributes to an extraordinary long finish which echoes the delicious flavors throughout.

Ripe and plummy, a generous red with a chewy texture and a spicy finish. Drinkable now, although the fine-textured tannins can use until 1996 or 1997.
Purplish ruby. Moderately full-bodied. Moderate acidity. Lots of fruit. Heavily oaked. Moderately tannic. Black fruits, black pepper, blueberries, vanilla. Lean and elegantly structured considering its lush extraction. Rich, creamy oak notes balance well with bright fruit.
This is an easy-drinking Petite Sirah from an always solid producer of the variety. The wine is a little less in your face than many of its competitors with noticeable acidity and flavors of dark plum, mocha and spicy blackberry, though its finish could have been a little bit longer.
Winemaker's Notes:
The Guenoc Lake County Petite Sirah has intense aromas of vanilla, licorice and baked blueberries. The wine full bodied, with melt in your mouth tannins and layers of spicy complexity. A refreshing acidity on the palate contributes to an extraordinary long finish which echoes the delicious flavors of ripe plum and sweet oak.
