2010 Lillie's Merlot from the North Coast. Surprisingly light yet full bodied. Opened on a fluke for a steak and potatoes dinner and it fit the bill. Wish I bought another bottle at this price!

Rating: 86/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the November 2010 issue. On the simple but fairly juicy side, this wine smells of red cherries with a hint of blackberry and follows on the palate with a supple and somewhat rounded, almost soft impression. It earns honors for reasonable value when an open, easy-drinking Merlot is just what the doctor ordered.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Drinkable now. Unlikely to improve with further aging.
