Guado Al Tasso Scalabrone 2006

Winemaker's Notes:

'Top 100 Cellar Selections' and 97 points Wine Enthusiast: Guado al Tasso is finally back. After a string of past vintages that exhibited some rubber-like aromas, the 2006 expression is a study in purity, focus and excellence. This wine is impressive on all levels in terms of intensity, personality and persistency. It's rich and luscious with smooth tannins and lasting flavors of blackberry and spice. Drink after 2015. (Dec 2010)

Some oak on the nose with dark fruits. Perhaps needs a tad more time to better integrate for me, but all in all, a lovely wine.

Wine Tasting NotesBright peony pink color. Fruity aromas with refreshing grassy hints. Well-balanced and tangy on the palate with a lingering finish.

The nose is very refined and elegant, with fragrant, sweet aromas. The aromas are well integrated, with harmony between the fruity and balsamic notes. The palate is consistent and elegant, from the attack, through the mid-palate to the finish. The aftertaste matches the characteristics of the aromas giving a long, pleasant finish. These are the characteristics of Guado al Tasso 2006 as it is released onto the market - a wine with great class and a high potential for ageing in bottle.

Number Two on the Top 100 Cellar Selections for 2010! The wines of the Antinori family are nothing less that remarkable. This incredible Super Tuscan comes from their Bolgheri Estate of Tenuta Guado Al Tasso. A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot and 5% Syrah aged for 18 months in French oak barrels. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 97 points saying "Guado al Tasso is finally back. After a string of past vintages that exhibited some rubber-like aromas, the 2006 expression is a study in purity, focus and excellence. This wine is impressive on all levels in terms of intensity, personality and persistency. It’s rich and luscious with smooth tannins and lasting flavors of blackberry and spice. Drink after 2015."
