Gruner Veltliner Kies Kurt Angerer 2017

Member Review by Constance Chamberlain:

Winemaker notes: Variety: Grüner Veltliner Alcohol intent: 12,5 vol% Soil: grows on red gravel and soil over bed rock Vinification: classic in stainless steel tanks Character : Green apples and some Maracuja with some fine-spicy, mineral Spice. Fresh, fruity, juicy with good balance and spicy on the palate. Animates on the palate and makes you feel for another glass. A good allround-meal companion.

A Nice Gruner - light tropical fruits, not overly sweet. Gruner Veltliner is supposedly the grape that goes with anything, and I think I agree. This is medium bodied with crisp acidity. Goes best with food - any food really. But it's also good on its own.

From a young and upcoming producer in the Kamptal region of Austria, comes this rich, creamy Grüner named Kies after the gravel soil in which the vines grow. This wine is well balanced, showing notes of white pepper and spring pollen. Pair this with grilled monkfish, braised fennel, or even a pork roast. A great winter white!
