Gruet Brut Rose New Mexico 2013
"This nearly garnet Rose, like all our non-vintage sparkling wines, is aged 24 months en tirage. It has a lovely, bright floral bouquet with hints of strawberry, raspberry, and cherry. On the palate, it is rich and fruity in a dry, Brut style. The flavor of berries continues on the palate, revealing more strawberry, raspberry, cherry. This sparkler is lots of fun and very festive, but production is limited to 5000 cases per year, so don’t miss out!" -Winery
Very very good rose from Gruet which is located just outside of Albuquerque. IMO this bottle outperforms many higher dollar quaffs. A very smooth and yeasty flavor, with notes of lemon and cream. Not too robust bubbles. Crisp and well balanced acidity.
Gruet Rose is my "cliche" bottle, as I bring it to many occasions. I am (of course) a big fan of the "pink champagne" and this as close to it as you can get for the price.
Aromas of flowers with a hint of grapefruit. Very smooth in the mouth with notes of strawberry and citrus. Nice finish that doesn't disappear too quickly. Would recommend.
