Grove Mill Riesling Marlborough 2009

Member Review by yokuo:

2007 Grove Mill Riesling ($17, find this wine) As often seems to be the case with New Zealand Rieslings, a little sweetness seems only to intensify and focus the flavors of lime zest and pear in this wine; it's got a nice floral note on the nose, too.

/ This northern Italian Riesling has a steely Alpine nose with hints of mountain flowers, citrus, melon and tarragon. Its slightly off-dry flavors caress the palate. It is light-bodied, with delicious, fresh and juicy apricot nuances. And with low alcohola nd crisp acidity, this is the prfect summer sipper and a great accompanimnet to lightly piquant dishes or shellfish.

/ Produced in northern Italy, Cavit's elegantly contoured off-dry Riesling offers up a supremely sippable version of this venerable white grape. In the glass, the wine appears nearly colorless which makes the wild honey and stone fruit aromas that leap forth from the glass a pleasant suprise. Chock a block with apricots, pears and melons, this Riesling could easily pull duty as a cocktail quaff or companion to Chinese takeout.

BEST BUY/ From the Pfalz cooperative, this is a strong effort at a bargain price. It's not the most complex Riesling, but its aromas of cinnamon-dusted apples are followed by refreshing off-dry flavors of apple and melon.

Best Wines Tasted in 2005/ Stainless steel fermented. Color: light gold. Aromas: apricot, peach, and a hint of grapefruit predominant on the nose. Palate: fresh fruit flavors with apricot, peach, and grapefruit. Crisp acidity.

Holy Mole - Wines with Mexican Food/ A good type of wine to look for is one with some sweetness, which offsets the heat of the chilies. Off-dry German Rieslings are great choices here because they have alcohol levels as low as 7 percent along with razor sharp acidity. Blue Fish is an excellent value.
