Groth Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2014

External Review:

Bright, medium ruby-red. Black cherry, herbs, tobacco leaf and loam on the nose, sweetened by chocolatey oak. Juicy and firmly built, showing good clarity and brisk acidity but with an obviously herbal component to the black cherry and currant fruit. Finishes with serious but essentially fine-grained tannins and a lingering green element. Will this very primary young wine gain in complexity with time in bottle? There's a lot of rich, ripe blackberry, blueberry, black currant and cassis flavor in this Cabernet, but it's still finding its balance. The fruit is primary in nature with strong tannins and oak that's not yet integrated.
