Suggested Recipe Pairing presented by
Layered Rice Pudding

RiceSelect's fragrant Jasmati® is blended with eggs, milk and fall's favorite spices, cinnamon and nutmeg, to create a delicious rice pudding, which is layered on top of fluffy cream cheese and abuttery pecan crust. Pairs well with a bold, tawny port with flavors of dried fruits, nuts, and spices.

A Chardonnay wine from California in USA. 2011 Groth Chardonnay 750ml

Made from 100% estate fruit in the Oak Knoll district 30% new oak with no malolactic fermentation. Bright straw gold. Precise aromas of lemon crisp red apple and peach. Crisp and refreshing on the palate the texture and body are lifted by a judicious but not overstated use of oak. Flavors of apricot lime pith vanilla and kiwi lead to a strong finish that is carried by juicy acidity and a creaminess that can be attributed to aging partially on the lees. A nice balanced and clean chardonnay and another consistent effort from Groth. Drink now through 2017. Ryan Moses.

Long, cool fermentation in a mixture of old and new barrels gives our Chardonnay layers of fruitiness and complexity that result in a wine that is very enjoyable when young or after several years of bottle age. This method of fermentation, in conjunction with whole cluster pressing and "sur lie" aging add layers of toastiness and creaminess to the wine. Together these components meld together harmoniously to create a balanced wine that is both lively and rich in aroma and flavor. - Winery

Winemaker's Notes:

The team of Dennis, Andrew, and Suzanne Groth, along with winemaker Michael Weis, have produced, vintage after vintage, very well-balanced chardonnays.Full bodied but lithe, and full of aromas (as well as flavors) of apple, ripe melon and pineapple. Very clean tasting, it would make a nice apperitif, but even better with a simply prepared roast chicken or broiled fish.P.S. Fans of sauvignon blanc take note: Groth makes a beauty.
