Groth Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2006
Big, woody, leathery nose. Very pleasant initial mouth feel. Some flavors of berries or currants, but it is quite subtle. Very solid, balanced tannic/acid structure. Not a powerhouse, but a darned pleasant wine to drink. US$39.99 at Total Wine in 2010.Add winemaker's notes

More reddish than purple in the glass. Muted musty nose—may need more air time for SO2 to blow off. Pleasant light hit of red fruit—plum, cherry—on entry. Strong acid is complemented by quite firm (still) tannin. Some tobacco mid-to-back palate. Not a powerhouse Napa Cab to my way of thinking—more like a claret. Good wine that nobody should feel pressed to empty from their cellar. A lot of years left in this one.
