A cool-climate expression of Cabernet, pungent, gamy and herbal, with a loamy earth edge to the dried berry and currant. Gains on the finish. Should be cellared, if briefly, and decanted. The year was 1981. The 121 acre purchase was the Oakville Vineyard planted by Justin Meyer and Ray Duncan from 1972-1974 to Cabernet Sauvignon, in the heart of the Oakville appellation. It was prime Cabernet Sauvignon land, planted by masters.

The 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon is big and lush with huge gobs of fruit in the aroma and flavor. The texture of the wine is soft and supple, typical of Cabernet Sauvignons grown in our area of the Oakville AVA. - WineryKey Points* Oakville Appellation* Cabernet Sauvignon 80%, Merlot 20%* Aged in French oak barrels for 22 months, 65% new French oak.* Bottled in July 2011* Will age beautifully for the next 10-15 years

This is a lovely Cabernet to drink now and over the next few years. It shows its Oakville pedigree with smooth tannins and dry, complex flavors of blackberry, black currant and cherry, with a fine earthiness. Wine Enthusiast.
