Groom "Bush Block" Zinfandel Barossa Valley South Australia 2008

Member Review by Wine Fire:

Nose opens with earthy, musty smells, clay and dirty socks, then adds a basket of sweet and sour fruit, especially cherries and plums, with notes of banana, grapefruit, eucalyptus, sage and honeysuckle intertwined. On the palate, acidity reinforces sweet and sour cherries, mingled with citrus flavors, plus smoky, peppery, musty background. Pistachio and white pepper notes add to interest as grapefruit emerges at an hour to dominate other tastes. Over time, acidity alternates between adding zing and being too dominant.

Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
