One of my most favorite wines of all time! DELICIOUS and fabulous to drink now, but I can't wait to try it after a few years of cellaring!
This was a very good growth year for the Napa Valley grapes. Grgich Hills' 2004 Yountville Cabernet Sauvignon drinks very nicely now. Deep, rich fruit with a dark, deep ruby color. Fine polish and nice ink on the glass. The flavor brings bold, intense fruit forward on the palate, fading to a firm, but velvety smooth finish. This wine's balanced and complex tannins make for an exceptional and delicious wine experience.
Drank this in 2008, and the tannins had softened up considerably. It was elegant and nicely structured, with earthy fruit on the nose and the palate. Yum!
Wow - what a winner to open this in 2008. This baby sure aged gracefully, and was just gorgeous to drink. #1 out of 7 Cabs at a tasting party at my house (not surprising!).
Four and a half glasses
