User Reviews for Grgich Hills Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Grown
Add your reviewSweet lavender and violet nose with currant and dark loamy soil. Blackberry juice. On the palate, luscious fruit showing. Rich and polished with nice cassis, kirsch and black cherry flavors. Dry. Nicely balanced and I think can keep aging. Grippy tannins with pretty fruit and good minerality. Big wine. 90 pts. 5/10/1 at winery

Rating: 89/100 - As reviewed by Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (www.cgcw.com) in the August 2010 issue. If a little stiff and reluctant on first taste, this nervy, tightly wound youngster slowly unfolds and reveals suggestions of well-ripened cherries, raspberries and no small measure of sweet oak. It is a long way from being pretty and polished at the moment, and its evident tannin signals a marked need for patience, but given the winery's track record of making ageworthy wines, it is one to lay away in complete confidence.Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine aging recommendation: Cellar for future drinking. Wine will improve with bottle aging.
Full bodied and elegant with pure flavors of black fruit and licorice, intense concentration and a pronounced sense of place.
Winemaker's notes:All of the grapes were grown at our estate vineyards, which are certified organic and Biodynamic. The result is an elegant wine with aromas of black cherries and licorice with a long finish. Full bodied with smooth tannins, it's the perfect partner with filet mignon, grilled steak or lamb chops.

This wine greets you with some stern, dry tannins and the fruit seems a tad stale given its age, with the rich currant and berry flavors offset by dry, leathery tannins. Drink now. 13,300 cases made.
