Andre Brunel is well-know for producing outstanding Cotes du Rhone wines including the famous Chateauneuf du Pape Les Cailloux. In an incredible vintage like 2009 his estate vineyards produce more superb fruit than the AOC will allow him to bottle as Cotes du Rhone so luckily he puts it into this lush VDP that's a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% Carignan from his vineyards just east of Gigondas. It's ripe, rich and fruity with a spicy black pepper, blackberry and cherry notes. Robert Parker named Bobby Kacher "one of the 20 most influential wine personalities of the past 20 years." Brunel is one of his best producers. Don't miss this perfect barbecue wine and hard-to-beat bargain.
