Greenstone Point Pinot Noir Wairau Valley 2009

Member Review by Lucha Vino:

Initially had a nose of pie cherries, opened up to sweet cherry and raspberry nose and palate. Finished with a bit of cranberry tartness. Light to medium bodied with consistent flavors start to finish. This would be good paired with Salmon.

It's a shame I disliked this wine so much I had to create an account and write about it. $9.99. Beyond tart and just sour, tart raspberries with a lemon finish. Cranberry and lots of alcohol on the nose, although only 12.5 %. Color very purple and dark, not very attractive for a pinot. I tried over 3 nights with 3 different meals (sea bass and yams, lamb, and salad with a poppyseed dressing) and nothing worked. I guess it could pair with a tomato pasta, but I won't buy it again.

Bright cherry hue, aromas of candied red stone fruits, mushroom and bacon fat, flavors of cherry-plum glacee with good acid and a moderate, yet focused finished.
