Grao Vasco Dao Branco 2012

Member Review by EMark:

Crystal clear pale yellow color. Very aromatic nose--tropical fruits. Very dry and crisp on the palate. Only slight hints of the tropical fruit flavors. I am not that experienced with Portuguese wines. Most of my experience is with Vinho Verde, and this wine is very similar--light, dry, crisp. US$8.09 at Total Wine.

Scents of apple and lemon. Touch of cream and lemon flavors with a tangy, dry finish.

Here are two neighboring regions in the heart of Portugal. The wines of the Dao are easily recognizable by their Burgundian-type cylinder. The wines are balanced with tannins firm enough. The varieties are as varied as Touriga, Alfrocheiro or Jaen. They recall the black fruit and very ripe. Typically, these wines are tasted young enough to appreciate its liveliness. It can also be aged for more complex flavors. Bairrada wines are usually the result of a local variety, Baga, which provides robust and full bodied wines. Recently, there also combines Merlot. Ideal for light meals meet. Consume with moderation.
