Great value Shiraz from my favourite Aussie wine stable. Lacks a little polish but a classic Aussie - big and full in the mouth, all kinds of rich berry flavours, drinks very well now and would benefit from a few years lying down.

Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. Throughout his career, Grant has been one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons. Grant Burge Wines was formed in 1988 by Grant and his wife Helen, and is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley on the banks of Jacobs Creek and is still proudly family owned. Continuing the family tradition, Grant and Helen have now brought the sixth generation into the fold. Grant Burge Barossa Vines Shiraz is a deep and vibrant red with youthful purple hues. This Shiraz triumphs complex aromas of raspberries, leather, spice and stewed fruits and fruit cake. The palate is bursting with powerful berry fruit flavours, raspberries, black currant and adding to the complexity subtle peppered spice. The Barossa Vines Shiraz has a generous palate with well balanced tannins and a long satisfying finish. This delicious Shiraz is ideal for every day drinking and is an excellent companion to roasted meats, lamb curry or hearty Italian dishes.
