Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz South Australia 2009

Winemaker's Notes:

Grant Burge is a fifth-generation Barossa vigneron and winemaker. Throughout his career, Grant has been one of the most respected and innovative forces in the Australian wine industry. The history of the Burge family and their long association with winemaking in the region can be traced back to March 1855, when noted tailor John Burge immigrated to the Barossa from Hillcot, near Pewsey in Wiltshire, England with his wife Eliza and their two sons. Grant Burge Wines was formed in 1988 by Grant and his wife Helen, and is located in the heart of the Barossa Valley on the banks of Jacobs Creek and is still proudly family owned. Continuing the family tradition, Grant and Helen have now brought the sixth generation into the fold. The 2009 Grant Burge Benchmark Shiraz has benefitted from an excellent growing season which has allowed maximum development of varietal Shiraz characters and concentration of flavours. This has resulted in this wine being deep purple in colour, with a highly perfumed nose. Aromas are dominated by red berry fruits, subtle blueberry and milk chocolate with a touch of sweet vanilla. The palate is full with generous red berry fruit flavours and red boiled lollies, complimented with a soft and subtle tannin structure and well integrated acidity that compliments the sweeter aspects of the wine. The elegance and freshness of this wine will please many palates and would be well suited to lamb dishes with Greek flavourings and a fresh green salad.

Pizza.Weingut: Grant BurgeLand: AustralienRegion: Barossa ValleyRebsorte: ShirazInhalt: 0,75 lAlkoholgehalt: 14,5 Vol.%Restsüße: trockenLagerfähigkeit: 3 - 5 JahreFassreife: in Barriques gereiftEmpfohlene Serviertemperatur: 16 bis 18°C Rotwein > Australien > Barossa Valley
