Grandes Vinos Y Vinedos Beso de Vino Old Vine Grenache 2010

Editorial Review by Gregory Dal Piaz:

This wine has 13.5% alcohol by volume and the bottle is sealed with a twist off closure. The wine is a bright ruby red color. The inviting nose has cherries, blackberries, white pepper, crushed stone minerals, mint, vanilla, plums and candied violets. This is barely medium body with moderate tannins and very good acidity. On the palate zippy fruit and white pepper jump out first with minerals, plums and mint coming in later. The finish has good length with a nice floral note entering the picture. This is a solid effort. (90 pts)

A long-standing tradition of good wine, together with the concerted effort, geniality and savoir-faire of our people resulted in the creation of the largest Cariñena D.O winery, and indeed, the largest winery in the Autonomous Community of Aragón. Grandes Vinos y Viñedos was founded as a company on 1st September 1997 to channel the sales of five Cariñena D.O. co-operatives. These co-operatives are: Cooperativa San José, in Aguarón, founded in 1955, Cooperativa San Bernabé, in Cosuenda (1955), Cooperativa San Roque in Alfamén (1950), SAT in Cariñena (1967), with the incorporation, at a later date, of Cooperativa Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Villanueva de Huerva (1950). In addition to the co-operatives, the other shareholders are the Government of Aragón through the Instituto Aragonés de Fomento and the three financial entities of greatest solvency in Aragón: Caja de Ahorros de la Inmaculada, Ibercaja and Multicaja. Grandes Vinos y Viñedos is a happy reality. The overriding importance it places on quality focuses on combining traditional winemaking with modern methods of research, new work systems and a better control of all of the processes, starting from the vine. The new winery installations have involved large investments in infrastructures, which facilitate our work. Approximately 10 million euros have been invested in 60,000 m2 of facilities, inaugurated on 26th June 2002 by the President of the Autonomous Community of Aragón, Mr. Marcelino Iglesias Ricou. Our winery is fully equipped with the necessary technology and human resources to be able to respond to a competitive market that demands quality. We have more than 700 partners in the six towns in which the 5,000 hectares of vineyards are located: Aguarón, Alfamén, Cariñena, Cosuenda, Mezalocha and Villanueva de Huerva. All of the wine produced is from our own vineyards and is commercialised by Grandes Vinos y Viñedos. Our efforts have been rewarded and, over the years we have received awards in numerous national and international competitions, which has been another stimulus to offer you the maximum quality and the very best of our work. Coconut Rice Sweet Potato Cheesecake

RiceSelect's creamy Arborio gets blended with sweet potato, coconut milk and vanilla to create this decadent cheesecake. Pairs well with Saunternes; a white dessert wine that has hints of coconut from aging in oak barrels.
