I bought this for five pounds as it was on special offer at my local supermarket. It ia a Spanish Yecla wine.Yecla is a DO[designated origin] in South East Spain between the Mediterranian coastal area and the high central plateau neighbouring Jumillia and Almansa.Wine production goes back over 2000 years to at least the Phonencians. It is made from the Monastrell grape [called Mourverde elsewhere],a grape common along the Mediteranean coast of Spain partly because of its resistance to drought. On the bottle it states that it has been aged in American oak barrels for two years and that it is full-bodied and has flavours of ripe plum and vanilla.I would agree with this.It is certainly fruity and full of flavour.I would say that it is a very nice red wine indeed, very good value for money, and a perfect accompaniment to my dinner of roast chicken
