Stocky and warm, with mild baked-fruit aromas and a hint of bramble. This venerable table wine is made from 65% Garnacha and 35 Cariñena, and from 2005 it's pretty much on the money. Expect earthy, mildly brambly flavors, lively acidity and soft tannins. Good for a wide range of simple foods and appetizers.

This juicy red offers black cherry, chocolate and light herbal flavors, with light tannins and crisp acidity. A slight bitterness gives it a refreshing finish. Cariñena and Garnacha. Drink now through 2009.

Good full red. Complex if slightly reduced aromas of raspberry, bacon fat, spices and meat, with a hint of surmaturité. Superripe and sweet, with liqueur-like red fruits and spices; a bit roasted but decent acidity gives definition to the flavors. Firmly structured and spicy on the back.

Medium red. High-toned aromas of cherry, red berries, mint and black pepper. Juicy and sappy, with complex flavors of blueberry, raspberry, leather and spices. A supple wine with decent weight in the mouth. A distinctly Spanish version of a Cote du Rhone, showing plenty of personality.

A perennial Best Buy, Sangre de Toro always delivers a quality red-wine experience that does not bowl you over. here the aromas are light and jammy, with strawberry. The body is medium in weight and intensity, with pure but basic cherry, raspberry and plum flavors. Like all other parts of the wine, the finish is easy and clean, with carry-over flavors of berry fruit.

Medium red. Slightly roasted, liqueur-like aromas of raspberry, red cherry and pepper. Fat and plump but vinous, with notes of roasted strawberry, fresh herbs and bonfire. Offers noteworthy sweetness in the middle and finishes with dusty but nicely ripe flavors. A very good value from this terrific vintage.

This Grenache-driven red offers rich blackberry and spice to complement roast fowl or pork.
