Gran Feudo Rosado Julián Chivite Julián Chivite Espanha Navarra Rosado 2010

Winemaker's Notes:

This is an outstanding success in the world of fruity rosé wines, an icon rosé showing a vibrant pink color and intense floral aromas. It is produced from Garnacha Tinta, the ideal variety for the production of rosé wines. After a short maceration with the skins, the must is separated by gravity with no mechanical pressing. The palate is soft with flavors of strawberry and raspberry and a refreshing acidity. It's a perfect wine for a barbecue with friends, a dinner with your fiancée, and everyday meal.

Bright strawberry hue, with aromas of red apple skins, rhubarb and strawberries; bright flavor notes of red raspberries, Rainer cherries and flowers, dancing over a moderate, slightly sweet finish.

It has been way to long since I treated myself to an afternoon with a chilled Grenache Rose while sitting on my deck in the shade with a good book in 80+ degree summertime heat. Likely to repeat the performance very soon. Lovely in all aspects.

A great rose wine for a warm day. I think this wine is a perfect choice to please both wine drinkers and non wine drinkers alike: it is docile and approachable; fruity without being sweet. Plus some men will be more comfortable drinking a rosado than girly rose, lol! It has a GREAT nose, albeit simple: strawberry, raspberry, and watermelon. The palate is the same - we thought the intense strawberry flavor minus the sweetness was refreshing. Honestly I didn't taste much of anything beyond the strawberry - but I appreciated the youthful simplicity in this dry rose. Good acidity provides some support/contrast. A short and tangy finish.

Tasting Notes:

Color: Pale pink. Very bright. Aroma: Intense and complex. Very fruity. Mainly redcurrant and strawberry notes with citrus scents. Palate: Ample attack. Very round and equilibrated evolution. Long and dry finish. Mineral and floral aftertaste.
