External Reviews for Gran Familia Rioja
Creamy oak, cedar and saddle leather notes accent the red berry and black cherry fruit in this dependable Rioja. Charmingly rustic, it will complement a variety of meats and hard cheeses.
This rustic red offers dried cherry and raisin flavors over chewy tannins, with coffee and spice accents on the finish. Drink now through 2008.
Castello de Fuenmayor's 2008 Gran Familia Red is composed of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano that spent 4 months in American oak and 4 months in French oak. Medium crimson-colored, it offers up a fragrant nose of cedar, leather, spice box, and blackberry. This is followed by a medium-bodied wine with plenty of savory fruit, a forward personality, and enough structure and balance to drink well over the next 5 years. It is an excellent value.
