Castello de Fuenmayor's 2008 Gran Familia Red is composed of 90% Tempranillo and 10% Graciano that spent 4 months in American oak and 4 months in French oak. Medium crimson-colored, it offers up a fragrant nose of cedar, leather, spice box, and blackberry. This is followed by a medium-bodied wine with plenty of savory fruit, a forward personality, and enough structure and balance to drink well over the next 5 years. It is an excellent value.
